From Piedmont's Langhe to the rolling Tuscan hills, from the green Umbria to the hot Sicily: Italy with its 265,000 producers boasts true oenological myths as the Super Tuscans, the great Barolo, the Brunello di Montalcino, the Amarone della Valpolicella as well as the Prosecco and Franciacorta. Italy is one of the reference countries for the world oenology, thanks to a unique terroir: an almost magic combination of microclimate, geology, passion and culture.
Italy is the country with the world's largest number of products with a designation of protected origin (recognized at European level): 809 of which 523 for wine and 286 for food. Besides the DOP appellations, DOC, DOCG, IGT, PGI and TSG, Italy has also other appellations recognized at a national level (such as PAT, IG or AS). 767 typical cheeses, 666 cured meats, 365 autochthonous grapes and much more, witness the immense cultural heritage of Italy.

The desire to create something unique, original and inimitable has always been the dream of Italian manufacturers who have devoted and still devote great attentions to research and continuous improvement of their product.
From the historic Nouvelle Cuisine by Gualtiero Marchesi to the recent Massimo Bottura's award as chef of the best restaurant in the world, Italy had and still has some of the best talents in the haute cuisine. Italian women are the best chefs in the world (111 in 2016) and more than 50 young people under 35 received the coveted award. Italy is second only to France in the number of starred chefs (334 in 2016), but France crowned Nadia Santini as best female chef in the world.
If receiving one or more Michelin stars for a restaurant means being part of the haute cuisine elite, Massimo Bottura's Osteria Francescana has gone far beyond by winning as Best Restaurant in the World in 2016. Speaking of haute cuisine, with 343 starred restaurants, Italy is for sure one of the most important countries in the world capable to offer tradition, innovation and the highest quality.
100ITA is a brand that can be found only on the labels of 'Made in Italy' products, allowing to immediately identify the Italian origin of the product. Nowadays, 2 of 3 products sold outside Italy are not from Italy even if they have names, images and brands that evocate it. In the United States only 1 product out of 8 has Italian origin. This problem, called 'Italian Sounding', damages, first of all, the consumer who doesn't pay a fair price for the good he's buying and receives a product that is realized with production processes, processing techniques and raw materials that are different from the Italian ones: if you google first 'Mozzarella Wisconsin' and then 'Mozzarella' images, the differences are clear. The brand 100ITA is integrated in the packages in order to make counterfeiting difficult and it includes the additional application of '100%' only if all the ingredients of the product have Italian origin.

100ITA is a project to promote the culture of 'Made in Italy' food and wine in the world, with the aim of passing down the passion and the experience of people and companies that everyday work for it and at the same time to curb the phenomena of imitation and forgery. 100ITA is a project based on an integrated and innovative promotion process, that is one of its kind: 1. an informative, collaborative, multilingual and free online platform; 2. a major presence on different social media channels both western and eastern; 3. the use of a unique brand of trust for the consumer that is recognizable, free, worldwide registered and that can be affixed only on real 'Made in Italy' products; 4. the participation and organization of international F&B events. Thanks to all this, 100ITA not only informs and makes people share the beauty of Italian food and wine culture, but also contributes significantly to protect consumers from counterfeit products and imitations.
Made in Italy is worldwide considered as synonymous of quality, originality and style. According to a research by KPMG if 'Made in Italy' was a brand it would be the third most famous in the world, just after Coca-Cola and VISA. Technically, the English expression 'Made in Italy' refers to the process of re-evaluation of the Italian handicraft and industrial production in terms of materials quality, aesthetic taste, attention to details, sensitivity to beauty and durability, which has often led Italian products to excel in the world. Historically, since the early 80 ', the words 'Made in Italy' started to be used by the Italian producers to counter different phenomena of counterfeiting of their products, especially in fashion, food, furniture and mechanical sectors (known in Italian language as 'the 4 A': Abbigliamento-Clothing, Agoalimentare-Food&Beverage, Arredamento-Furniture and Automobili-Automotive).
